How it all started
Annikah Peabody is a passionate garden designer who is fascinated by the intersection between supporting the local ecology and cutting edge design. Her designs are inspired by nature and she attempts to capture its essence while creating usable spaces that support wildlife and food production.
Our story
Here at Wild Thistle Gardens we recognize the healing powers of nature and we reflect this ethos in our approach to design. Specializing in drought tolerant, habitat building gardens, we strive to help rebuild the native ecology of California one garden at a time.
Our approach
In these uncertain times of mounting resource constraints and ecological degradation we take care to create thoughtful designs benefitting both people and the habitat. We design with the permaculture principle of stacking functions. When designing for esthetics, why not also choose a plant pallet that’s edible or pollinator friendly instead of merely planting something of ornamental value alone? Why not choose the native variety of a species thats better adapted to our climate and requires less resources? California is one of the most bio-diverse hot spots in the world and has a beauty distinctly its own. Designing with native plants can re-connect us to place and foster a sense of belonging that has largely been lost.
